Local Energy

Oil and Gas with Wade Spear and Peter Brecht

"Our kids ask us what we do for a living, and we wanted to share various aspects..."

We recorded videos for team conversations, then thought why not post?

Wade Spear is an upstream engineer with a knack for asking and answering great questions. He lives in Oklahoma.

Peter Brecht loves bringing out the best in people and building things. He lives in California and insures high-risk industries.

Our accountant hates us

We like hats and hot sauce, and if you do too we're happy to take your money and send you some. These are break-even prices for us (maybe) because we use quality local craftsman and products.

A few notes...

Before Our Call

We look forward to talking with you! We wanted to share a few high-level things with you so you know what to expect. Our goal is to learn from you and share your story in the most positive light possible. We’ll handle post-production and aim to produce a polished final cut.

Topics...

We will email a few potential topics ahead of time, but we really aim to keep things conversational.Much like great photographs, the best interviews are more candid. With that in mind, our young kids watch these videos with us when they're done so you can guess the sort of topics we veer away from.

Before our call...

Prior to the call, we’ll email you a riverside.fm link. It works much like Zoom or FaceTime. We use this because it provides great post-production tools.

Getting better recording quality...

A good internet connection and a relatively quiet space can go a long way for recording. If you have access to a good webcam or microphone, those are great but we can modify a lot of that in post production.

  • If you're going to join on desktop, we strongly recommend using Chrome. Do not use an Incognito window.

  • If you're joining on your smartphone, download the application ahead of time.

  • It's best to turn on Do Not Disturb, as incoming phone calls or notifications can interrupt recording.

  • If you use VPN, it's best to pause it during recording to avoid any lapse.

Let the upload finish after recording...

Riverside records the content locally on your device, and then uploads it after the session ends.If you have a slower internet connection, you'll want to wait for it to upload completely.Do not leave the session until you see confirmation that your recordings have been uploaded. If you leave early or have issues uploading, visit riverside.fm/upload on the same device to upload your recordings.
